Event production in Cambridge

Clare Sound provides event technical services to both student and private events taking place in Cambridge. We are a student society based at Clare College, in the University of Cambridge, but open to all students to participate in.

We can provide sound and lighting equipment and experienced technicians to ensure your event runs smoothly, from live music events including club nights and May Balls to speaker panels and conference AV.

What we do

Our primary goal is to support events taking place within Clare College for the benefit of students of the college, by providing sound and lighting equipment, and experienced technicians to operate it.

We also support student events taking place elsewhere in Cambridge. Examples of these have been society annual balls, garden parties, college bops with live music, May Balls, and festivals. We can also offer our equipment on a dry-hire basis for smaller events.

Who we are

Clare Sound is a student society at Clare College, Cambridge. Our technicians are mostly students drawn from across the collegiate university and local community, many of whom have experience working in similar settings outside the society. We are open to new members, with or without experience. There are lots of learning opportunities, structured and unstructured, that we can provide.

The Head Technician, Rob Woodland (2024-25), manages the day-to-day affairs of the society, including planning for events and keeping track of the accounts.
