Cambridge University Wind Orchestra (CUWO)

Cambridge University Wind Orchestra (CUWO) is a friendly, high standard ensemble that performs a variety of repertoire that both stretches players and is fun to play – from concert band standards to film music and orchestral transcriptions. CUWO enjoys diverse repertoire with fun, weekly rehearsals and termly concerts.

CUWO provides an opportunity to meet people with similar interests from other courses and colleges, and explore fun repertoire. A sociable group, CUWO members often attend formals and other social events together.

Last year’s highlights included a Varsity trip to Oxford, playing alongside the Oxford Wind Orchestra in a mass performance of music from Star Wars, and a Lent term Schools Concert, featuring an exciting programme of film music performed for local school children – not to mention CUWO’s triumphant Easter term concert, showcasing the results of a year’s hard work. CUWO rehearses every Thursday evening at the music faculty and looks forward to welcoming former CUWO flautist and new conductor Ed Gertler to lead the ensemble this year. Don’t miss your chance to join the University’s leading wind orchestra – CUWO will blow you away!

Audition applications will open on via an online form on 1 September and should be received by 5 October, 12 noon.
