Cambridge University Recorder Ensemble

We are a recorder ensemble for players of all levels playing music of all genres! We hold weekly rehearsals and a termly concert – join us for good music and a good time! So, you’re at Cambridge University, and play the recorder in a serious manner (most of the time). This group is here so we all get to know each other, play some music and generally have fun! There is no official minimum standard. We play music of all styles and encourage members to contribute their own smaller pieces to our concerts as well as larger ensemble playing. Feel free to bring your own repertoire suggestions. We also have two society bass recorders, a contrabass, a great bass, and two tenor recorders which any member can use. We have at least one recital in the first two terms and a weekly rehearsal.

We welcome anyone who is or has played recorder. We have a range of skills, but recommended knowing how to sight-read C and F recorders. Roles are not pre-assigned and we switch instruments.

Email the committee (recorders@cusu.ac.cam.uk) or join our fresher’s squash in early first term

There is a membership fee of £10 and students are strongly encouraged to bring their own smaller instruments, but we have a few for temporary lending.
