Cam Choral Experience

Are you aged 11 – 18? Do you love to sing?

The Cam Choral Experience takes place on a weekend in June every year and provides a day of activities designed to give secondary-school students a taste of what singing at Cambridge might be like, as well as promoting music and singing more generally.

The morning consists of vocal workshops, repertoire sessions, and admissions talks. In the afternoon there is a chance to take a walking tour of Cambridge and the colleges with current student singers (plenty of time to ask questions about what it’s really like to sing at Cambridge!), followed by a final rehearsal and performance to friends and family in one of Cambridge’s magnificent college chapels.

For parents/carers there is an Admissions Talk and Q&A session in the morning, and an invitation to come and hear the final performance.

The day generally runs from 10:00 to 17:00, and is free-of-charge to all participants, who must be state-educated and aged between 11 and 18. There is also a small number of places for independent-school pupils who are in receipt of means-tested bursaries / scholarships.

Applications for the 2024 Cam Choral Experience have now closed, but there are a few places still remaining. If you would like to come, please email the Choral Awards Co-ordinator, Miss Louisa Denby, on choralawards@group.cam.ac.uk.
