• A solo piece of your own choice, lasting three to five minutes. An accompanist will be provided. 

• One or two excerpts of sight-reading. 

• Aural and range tests. 

• Vocal exercises (such as scales etc.) 

• Though we expect members of CUCC to be able to perform solo parts, most will also have some choral experience. You should be able to sight-read well and hold your own in an ensemble. 

• Participation in CUCC is on a project-by-project basis to allow flexibility in the ensemble to tackle different repertoire. If successful, you will be invited for specific projects.

• Solo singing: please prepare your voice part for Requiem Aeternum in the Libera Me (No 7) from Verdi's Messa da Requiem. We will be using the Ricordi edition (extract on pp.189-192) but you can also find parts to download from IMSLP.

• Sing some scales and/or arpeggios to demonstrate vocal range and quality.

• Complete some simple ear tests (e.g., picking out notes from a chord).

• Pitch some basic intervals.

• Some short (graded) sight reading tests.

• Chat about your experience. 

This is a very informal process and is just so that you get an opportunity to meet the Director and he can assess your range, sound and strengths.
