Centre for Music Performance

The Centre for Music Performance is a department of the University of Cambridge. For general information about how we handle your personal information, and your rights under data protection legislation, please click here.

This page in particular explains how the Centre for Music Performance uses personal information.

We collect and process your personal information for a number of purposes. We keep your personal contact details so that we can deal with any questions about your bookings or to get in touch if there are any changes to an event, such as cancellations. We also use your contact details to send you information about upcoming events we think might be of interest to you. These communications are sent by email and/or by post.

We also keep a record of the different events our customers have attended which allows us to spot any trends or preferences (e.g. the demographics of our audiences for different types of concert) and to plan future events.

We may use information we have collected to ask you to make a donation or ask whether you wish to attend a fundraising event. We rely on your support to remain solvent and to be able to go on providing music and other cultural events to the public. We will only send you emails for fundraising purposes with your prior consent.

We will only pass your details on to any event organisers if you have given us permission to do so. For example, the organiser of a music concert might ask for the details of those who bought tickets in case they are interested in hearing about future events.

Data Protection legislation requires that we state the basis in law which allows us to process your data. In general, we rely on your permission before we send you emails or post about future events or fundraising. You can update these preferences at any time by contacting us or our Box Office provider Saffron Hall. Once you’ve given us permission, we will keep you updated with information about events. Otherwise we use your information in pursuit of our ‘legitimate interests’, and only if its use does not cause prejudice to you, and where your privacy is fully respected.  In order for us to be able to operate effectively, for example, we have a legitimate business interest to get in touch with you about your ticket bookings.

All the information we keep is held securely and is not retained for longer than necessary.
